Celebrating Success: HMRC Customs and Excise Certificate Achievement
We’re proud to celebrate a fantastic achievement from one of our Russell Hillington Customer Services team members, Ailsa Laing, who recently graduated from the Level 3 Certificate in Excise Practices and Procedures.
The qualification, awarded by the Bonded Warehousekeepers Association (BWA), recognises industry professionals who have demonstrated strong knowledge of excise processes, regulations and compliance. Graduates were invited to attend a special ceremony at the House of Commons, making the occasion even more memorable.
We caught up with Ailsa to hear about her experience and what the achievement means.
How did it feel to receive your HMRC Customs and Excise certificate at the House of Commons?
“It was a great experience and really impressive seeing around the House of Commons. We even got in to see a debate in the House of Lords.”
What does achieving this certificate mean to you personally and professionally?
“I found it interesting to know more about the customs and excise part of the business and also to understand why we have certain procedures. After some stressing over the exam it was a big relief to find out I had passed.”
How did you balance studying with your role in Customer Services?
“Studying and working was tricky and I had to try to ignore emails for a couple of hours a week until the final exam was complete. Worth it to get a visit to Parliament and London.”
This is a fantastic achievement and a great example of the dedication our team shows to developing their knowledge and expertise.
Congratulations on this well-deserved success Ailsa!
