Location: Hillington, Glasgow
Hours: Monday to Friday, 45 hours per week
About the Role
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Production Team Manager to lead our Value Added Services (VAS) department, operating within a fast‑paced, high‑volume production environment. Our VAS division supports a diverse range of activities including rework for the Scottish drinks industry, contract packing for multiple customers, a small‑scale bottling line.
This is a key leadership role that will drive operational excellence, ensure compliance with industry standards, and support our growth strategy.
Key Responsibilities
- Champion a positive, safe, and high‑performance workplace culture.
- Provide strategic and hands‑on leadership to all VAS operational teams including Production, bottling and quality.
- Drive a culture of continuous improvement using Lean manufacturing principles to increase operational efficiency, reduce waste, and optimise throughput.
- Promote compliance with HACCP, food safety, and health & safety standards across all operational areas.
- Lead the development, implementation, and maintenance of systems and processes required to achieve business accreditations.
- Oversee resource planning, shift structures, staffing, and production scheduling to meet customer expectations and business objectives.
- Monitor and challenge operational KPIs and use data‑driven insights to improve performance, cost control, and service levels.
- Promote a strong collaborative environment with commercial, planning, and warehouse teams to ensure seamless end‑to‑end operations.
- Ensure all equipment and facilities are maintained to appropriate standards.
Skills & Experience Required
- Proven leadership experience in a high‑volume manufacturing, packaging, or FMCG environment.
- Strong background in Lean manufacturing, CI, 5S, or similar methodologies.
- Practical experience working within HACCP‑controlled environments.
- Previous involvement in building or maintaining certification to SALSA, BRC, or other food/drinks industry standards.
- Excellent people management skills with the ability to lead, inspire, and develop multi‑disciplinary teams.
- Data‑driven, highly organised, and comfortable balancing multiple priorities in a fast‑moving operation.
- Deliver financial performance in line with agreed budgets.
- Strong communication skills and stakeholder management experience.
Desirable Skills & Experience
- Qualifications in manufacturing, production, ops management, or similar fields.
- Proven experience leading teams through change management, transformation, or process‑improvement initiatives.
- Strong understanding of end‑to‑end supply chain flows, including the interfaces between production, planning, warehousing, and commercial teams.
- Experience utilising Power BI dashboards or similar analytics tools to support data‑driven decision making.
- Formal training or certification in Lean Six Sigma (Yellow/Green Belt) or similar continuous improvement methodologies.
- Demonstrated ability to influence, coach, and develop teams to build a high‑performance and continuous‑improvement culture.
- IOSH Managing Safely or similar Health & Safety qualification.
