Position Title: Finance Business Systems Analyst 
Department: Information Technology | Business Systems Vertical 
Location: Hillington / Coatbridge / To Be Agreed (current IT team is spread across both sites, with a larger presence at Coatbridge). Frequent travel between our core sites across the Glasgow area would be required. 
Reports To: Group Business Systems Manager 

Direct Reports: No direct reports but will be required to lead cross functional project teams across the organisation.

This ERP programme is not solely a technology change; it is a fundamental shift in how the Group operates, reports, and controls its financial and operational processes. Successful delivery requires close collaboration across Group Finance, operational finance teams, and wider operational functions, alongside disciplined business analysis and strong change support. 

 

To support this, we are recruiting a Group Business Systems Analyst to work closely with the Group Business Systems Manager and play a pivotal, hands-on role in the delivery of Dynamics 365 Business Central and its associated group-wide change programme. The successful candidate will act as a key business partner to finance and operational teams, ensuring that new systems and processes are fit for purpose, adopted effectively, and embedded into day-to-day operations. 

 

 

Role Summary 

We are seeking a motivated and experienced Group Business Systems Analyst with strong ERP and business partnering experience. The role will focus primarily on supporting the design, delivery, and adoption of Dynamics 365 Business Central across the Group, working closely with Group Finance and operational teams to translate business requirements into effective system and process solutions. 

 

While the ERP programme is the primary focus, the role will also contribute to broader business systems improvement initiatives in support of the Group’s digital roadmap. 

 

Key Responsibilities: 

 

ERP Delivery and Continuous Improvement 

  • Act as a core business analyst on the Dynamics 365 Business Central implementation, supporting the wider project team and group-wide rollout and change. 

  • Work closely with Group Finance, financial operational teams, and operational stakeholders to understand current-state processes and define future-state operating models. 

  • Elicit, document, and manage detailed business and functional requirements, ensuring alignment with ERP capabilities and group standards. 

  • Lead efforts to gain buy-in from users and key stakeholders by clearly communicating the benefits of proposed system improvements and ensuring that all voices are heard in the decision-making process. 

  • Support the configuration and design of Business Central modules, particularly those impacting finance, reporting, and operational finance processes. 

  • Assist with data migration, process validation, user acceptance testing (UAT), and cutover planning. 

  • Support change management activities, including stakeholder engagement, process documentation, training support, and adoption planning. 

  • Act as a trusted business partner to finance and operational teams throughout the ERP change lifecycle, ensuring concerns are addressed and benefits are realised. 

 

 

Business Partnering and Stakeholder Engagement 

  • Build strong working relationships with Group Finance, operational finance teams, and operational leaders. 

  • Act as a key liaison between business users, the Group Business Systems Manager, wider business systems teams, and delivery partners. 

  • Facilitate workshops, process reviews, and requirement-gathering sessions across multiple business units. 

  • Ensure business needs are clearly articulated and understood, balancing local requirements with group-wide consistency. 

  • Work closely with Business Systems Analysts supporting transport, rail, and warehousing platforms to ensure alignment between ERP processes and operational systems. 

  • Support cross-domain process mapping to ensure end-to-end workflows are clearly defined across ERP and operational platforms. 

  • Collaborate on requirements where financial and operational systems (including but not limited to TMS, WMS, TOS) intersect ensuring ownership and handoffs are clearly defined. 

  • Contribute to a joined-up approach to systems change, minimising duplication and reducing operational risk. 

  • Work alongside internal data integration team to define, document, and validate data flows between Dynamics 365 Business Central and upstream/downstream systems. 

  • Support the identification of data dependencies, interfaces, and integration requirements during ERP delivery. 

  • Collaborate with technical and application support teams to ensure system changes are supportable, stable, and aligned with operational support models. 

 

Business Analysis and Process Improvement: 

  • Analyse end-to-end business processes to identify inefficiencies, control gaps, and improvement opportunities. 

  • Translate business requirements into functional specifications, process flows, and system documentation.  

  • Support the design of standardised, scalable processes aligned to the Group’s target operating model. 

  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives beyond the ERP programme where required in relation to overall group systems strategy (including datalake and AI projects). 

 

Project Delivery Support 

  • Support the Group Business Systems Manager in planning and delivering system-related projects and workstreams. 

  • Track actions, risks, dependencies, and milestones related to ERP and business systems initiatives 

  • Coordinate with internal teams and external vendors to ensure deliverables meet agreed requirements and timelines. 

 

Vendor Relationship Management 

  • Work with external ERP implementation partners and consultants to clarify requirements and review proposed solutions 

  • Support quality assurance of vendor deliverables, ensuring alignment with business expectations and operational needs. 

 

Key Experience / Qualifications 

  • ERP Experience: Proven experience working on ERP implementation or transformation programmes, ideally Dynamics 365 Business Central or similar ERP platforms. 

  • Business Analysis: Strong background in business analysis, including requirements gathering, process mapping, and functional specifications. 

  • Business Partnering: Demonstrated experience working closely with finance and operational teams as a trusted business partner, delivering systems and process improvements. 

  • Change Delivery: Experience supporting business change initiatives, including user adoption, process redesign, and operational system readiness. 

  • Financial Systems Knowledge: Solid understanding of finance 101 concepts, and operational finance processes within a group or multi-entity environment preferred. 

  • Stakeholder Management: Ability to engage effectively with stakeholders at all levels of the organisation. 

  • Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex concepts into clear, practical outputs. 

  • Delivery Mindset: Organised, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in a fast-paced, change-driven environment. 

  • Technical Acumen: Familiarity with software development processes, with the ability to communicate effectively with technical teams. Direct development experience is beneficial but not required. 

 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Certification in Dynamics 365 Business Central. 

  • PMP or other project management certification. 

  • Experience with system integration and data migration projects.
