We offer secure space units in our new self storage building in Hillington Glasgow John G Russell for Selfstore Glasgow, Selfstore Hillington - Russell Selfstorage April 2005: Russell are delighted to announce that at its meeting on 5th April 2005 the Freight Transport Association UK National Executive Board unanimously elected John G Russell to serve as President for 2005-2007. This appointment of our Chairman to such a prestigious position is not only a tremendous personal achievement for him but also gives the company the opportunity to raise its profile within the UK logistics industry Nov 2004: John Russell, Chairman of John G. Russell (Transport) Ltd received Transport News' lifetime achievement award at a breakfast meeting in Glasgow on the 8th of November. The award was presented by the Princess Royal July 2004: Russell Group acquire new site at Cumbernauld April 2004: New Head Office building completed at the Hillington site. The new office accommodation will house Head Office and the Central Transport planning functions. Jan 2004: After five years of operation Russell Bellshill Depot finally closes its doors - watch this space for exciting future developments. April 2003: Swingthru' Trailer - Russell have purchased a swingthru' trailer allowing additional versatility both on our sites and on customer premises, when alternative container lifting equipment is not available.
March 2003: Each year, Russell employees nominate and select a charity, which becomes the recipient of all fundraising efforts by the staff over a 12-month period. This year Russell selected the Royal National Institute for the Blind and a presentation cheque will be handed over just after the end of the financial year in April. Throughout the year, employees organize a number of events to raise funds. Two employees, David Agnew and Tam Forsyth are currently walking the West Highland Way, which will add a significant amount to the final total. September 2002: After almost 32 years service with Russell, Mr. Greg Constable takes early retirement. Greg has in recent years suffered some ill health and has taken the decision to slow down considerably. Due to his particular expertise, Greg will still be brought into the Company on a consultancy basis so, we can look forward to seeing him around Russell for a long time to come. August 2002: Farewell to Storage Services (Leith) Ltd's Managing Director: John Brydie the managing director of Storage Services has decided to retire after 28 years with the company. John started with Storage Services in October 1974 when the company had two sites, one in Plantation Quay in Glasgow and the other at Western Harbour in Leith Docks in Edinburgh. He helped the growth of Storage Services when the company took possession of a paper mill in Penicuik and oversaw the conversion of this site into a successful warehousing operation. After this, the company decided to close its operation at Plantation Quay and put all its efforts into the growing business in the East. After a number of years John developed the business to open a new rail linked site at Bath Road in Leith and then onto acquiring the old S.A.I site at Salamander Street where our head office is now situated. The staff at Storage Services wish to thank John for all his hard work during the years and wish him all the best in the future-although his wife Isobel isn't looking forward to him being at home as much as John is! December 2001 - Russell Awarded Fastest Growing Haulier of the Year 2001 September 2001: After over 30 years on Russell's site at Gartcosh, the company has moved their container operations to a new site within the Mossend, Eurocentral Freight Village. We still offer a full range of container services from hire, storage to maintenance and repair.
